When I Woke Up This Morning Chapter 11 – Arrival
Chapter 11 – Arrival. John followed Mike outside into the storm. Mike slowly tapped a pack of cigarettes while John approached him. Mike opened the box of smokes and offered one to John. “No thanks,” John said,” I finally got that habit beaten, I thought you did too? How long has it been, Mike?”
“It’s been a couple of years now; I don’t think it matters much anymore, John.”
The rhythmic sound gradually reached a climax. “What is that sound, John?”
“I don’t know Mike; it doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever heard before. If I were to guess, I’d say it’s an engine of some kind. But what it’s powering, I have no clue.”
“What do you think is going to happen, John, tomorrow,” Mike said?
“I expect somehow we’ll make it to church, and get the message out to the world, and then I don’t know,” John said.
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Mike lit his cigarette and inhaled the smoke deeply. The look on his face and clumsiness indicated his brain had just rewarded him by releasing dopamine into his bloodstream. Mike grabbed on to John briefly to steady himself.
“Are you OK, Mike?”
“Yeah, John; I’m great. That’s fantastic; one of the few cigarettes that taste good is that first one after you’ve quit.”
Mike took a couple of drags from his smoke, staring at the sky. “I don’t think I’m going to make it out of here alive, Johnny.”
“Mike, what about Gabriel? He said he would be back for us? Surely you believe that?”
“I haven’t lost my faith if that is what you’re asking, my friend. I have this feeling, right in the pit of my stomach, that I’m going out like Andrea. You have to promise me something, John. If anything happens to me, swear to me, you’ll take care of Maria. Don’t let anything happen to her.”
“I swear Mike; I don’t share your doom scenario, my friend, but I don’t think tomorrow is going to be a bed of roses either. I expect when I get the message out that I’ll find the left foot of fellowship. I’ll officially be ex-communicated from the Church. My parents will stop talking to me for a long time, and I’ll lose Emily.”
“You may not lose Emily, although I’m not sure that matters anymore, do you, John?”
“I’m sorry, Mike; I feel like I have betrayed you,” John said. “Don’t give it a second thought, John. It was obviously in the cards for you and Maria. And you proved that when you became a portal for Michael.”
“I understand that brother, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel like shit about it. I’ve already betrayed you and Emily’s by falling for Maria, and things will never be the same.”
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Mike put his arm around John. “Don’t ever feel that way, brother; you have to promise me that, OK? Everything works out for a reason, and I know God has a plan.”
“What are you going to do about Matthew? When he finds out what you’re doing, he’s going to shut you down. ”
” He already knows what I’m going to do Mike; Matthew isn’t a satanist, he’s a fallen angel, and his daughter Emily is a Nephilim who was planted in my life to keep me in line.”
“John, where did you get that information,” Maria said? Maria and Kris had walked up behind John and Mike and were listening in on their conversation.
“That small silent voice,” John said.
“What is that pounding noise,” Kris said?
“It’s an engine of some sort Kris,” Mike said. “We just haven’t found the source.”
Maria handed John a pair of binoculars. He could now see the triangle-shaped craft in the distant sky.
Each point of the triangle on the craft had a different colored light, Searchlights also shine down from the ship, following something on the ground that is moving across the terrain. “That’s moving way too slow for an airplane,” Mike said.
Chapter 11 – Arrival – The closer the craft got to the group, the calmer the storm became. The temperature started to rise. John could see the colorful lights dancing on the front, but wasn’t frightened. There was something familiar about this, like something from a dream. The ship was now visible to the naked eye, heading directly towards the camp.
The smell of ozone permeated the air, like after a spring rain or a walk on the beach.
The craft continued approaching, getting more substantial in the sky. John noticed the ship was distorting the view of everything underneath it; you could see the air moving in waves underneath the craft.
“What in the Hell is that,” Mike said?
“I don’t know,” Maria said, “But whatever you do, don’t shoot at it. It might be our ride out of here.”
“What do you mean by that Maria,” Mike said?
“Mike, think back to Exodus, the pillar of fire by night, and the cloud by day that shadowed and protected the Israelites during their trip through the desert. When Moses wrote about that, do you believe he was writing about a flying pillar of fire? Or do you think he wrote about what he was seeing? A non-terrestrial space ship fits that description pretty well for the time he lived.
“So, you’re saying a space ship of some sort is what protected the Israelites in the desert?”
“Well, the Bible has flying scrolls, flying rolls, and other things that are difficult to explain. Why not, Mike; do we have to be stuck with the classic idea that angels only fly around with wings?”
It started raining from the bottom of the craft. The warm water melted some of the snow, turning most of it to ice as it is re-froze. Brown grass was showing through in a few places where the snow melted.
The smell of ozone became stronger as the ship passed over the camp. The aroma was overpowering.
Mike was the first to notice the six different sets of headlights coming for us at breakneck speeds. Three were coming from the east and three from the west, following in the wake of the craft as it cruised directly overhead.
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Mike chambered a round in his shotgun and pointed it towards the approaching vehicles. “How could anyone even get around in this weather, I don’t like this one bit Maria,” Mike said.
“Put the shotgun down Mike,” Maria said, Mike raised the shotgun and pointed it at the approaching lights. Maria put her hand on the end of the barrel and pushed it to the ground. “No, Mike,” Maria said. “I have a terrible feeling about firing on the ship or whatever it is; it’s not a danger to us. ”
Meanwhile, six snowmobiles raced down the old country road where the cave was.
“I think this is the ride you folks have been waiting for,” Kris said. Maria and John both breathed a sigh of relief. No one noticed Mike get in the prone position and take aim towards the property line. Everyone was watching the craft as it rained on the campsite that was still ablaze. The flames left from the cabin explosion extinguished as the spacecraft circled the camp.
Mike was targeting the snowmobiles heading towards them. He was about ten feet in front of the others when the craft shot a light beam at him. He appeared to freeze at first and then completely disappeared as the light went away.
Mike, Maria, and John screamed. Kris fell to the ground, seemingly unaware of what was happening. She bowed her head for a moment, then stood, transforming into the Archangel Gabriel. The intimidation factor of a five-foot-five-inch girl, turning into a seven-foot-tall Archangel, is very high, it’s incredible.
“Do not fear; put your weapons away,” Gabriel said. “Your ride awaits John.” “What happened to Mike,” John said?
“I’m afraid we couldn’t allow Mike to travel with you any farther. He’s too much of a warrior. We had to bring him home.
“Are you ready to change the world, John,” Gabriel said?
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” John said.
“We have a stop we must make on the way,” Gabriel said. “A local Church is plagued by evil spirits and satanic infiltrators. Disembodied spirits possess some of the members. I have word that humans working for the forces of darkness are astral traveling, spiritually attacking the congregation. The believers are praying for deliverance, and they’re going to get it.”
“The attack against this camp originated from that very Church; you’re going to help us deliver that Church John. The incoming lights you see belong to friends, both new and old. Snowmobiles are the only effective human transportation at this time for your trip back to Minneapolis. A new friend is leading the rescue; old friends are with him.”
“I cannot interfere any more right now; I need to return to the ship. I will help you when you get to the Church, Yahweh is with us all, and be strong John. Show no fear in the face of the fallen angels when you see them. You have to let God take care of the fallen ones; do not rebuke them, you don’t have the right, and it’s not your place. You will be victorious, follow your heart, and let Michael take care of things when that time has come. Listen to that small silent voice that guides you.”
Gabriel kneeled and transformed back into Kris. “I know why you’re with us now, Kris,” Maria said. Kris stood back on her feet, feeling energized from the transformation. “Where was I,” Kris said.
You just transformed into the Archangel Gabriel,” John said. “I’m still amazed every time I see it happen.” The lights headed our way are snowmobiles; they’re our ride back to town Gabriel told us.
“Where was I, where did I go when Gabriel took over,” Kris said?
I’m not sure,” John said.
I believe it’s another dimension,” Maria said. “But I don’t know for sure. Do you remember anything of your time there, Kris?”
“It’s hard to explain,” Kris said. “It feels like home, a small cabin somewhere on the water; it feels very familiar. There is an ocean or a river; it’s hard to be sure. But there is a boat dock and a pool; I’ve been there before in my dreams.”
Chapter 11 – Arrival – We’ve all been there before Kris,” Maria said. “It always feels familiar to me too, I’m never scared there, and I’ve seen John there before, just for a moment. I’ve dreamed of the cabin before too.”
“I’ve wondered if that was real or an illusion. It was like a daydream,” John said. I remember running after you, Maria, unable to find you.
The ship took a position directly over the cave entrance, silently standing guard. The roar of the snowmobile engines grew louder as they got closer to the camp. The headlights danced through the woods as they wound through the various trails on the property towards the cave; they followed the ship to find Mike, Maria, and Kris.
“What did Gabriel mean by Astral Traveling,” John said?
“Astral traveling is an OBE, an out of body experience. They leave their body behind, projecting it into the astral plane, it’s like a mirror image of yourself in another dimension,” Maria said. “Good and Evil spirits travel through this plane. Those who travel with evil intentions leave their bodies in a well-guarded place.”
“Does that mean they can fly Maria,” Kris said.”
“Yes, it does Kris; they can move almost anywhere in the world, like a disembodied spirit, they can cause a lot of grief for believers. They can’t possess them, but they can plague an entire congregation of people. Gabriel said there was a church not far from here where the congregation is praying for deliverance, and they’re going to get it.”
The snowmobiles entered the property and traveled single file for that last few yards. They stopped at the cave entrance, pulling up in front of Mike, Maria, and Kris. Their lights were blinding, Maria and Kris both covered their eyes. Their sleds went silent, their riders dismounting. A few of the vehicles had trailers in tow, with what looked like supplies.
Chapter 11 – Arrival – The first person to take off their helmet was George, the gentleman from the truck stop. John cast a spirit out of him on the way here. “I told you I’d see you on Sunday preacher,” George said. “I brought my brothers and a few friends of yours. Your friend Gabriel visited me; he told me to get everyone together and follow their ship. We’re here to take you back to Minneapolis, and make sure you get there safely.”
“John, I’d like you to meet my brothers Aaron, Daniel, and Isaac,” George said. They stepped forward after removing their helmets to shake John’s hand.
“Hi everyone, we’re happy you could make it. I’d like you to meet Maria and Kris,” John said. “Who else do you have with you.”
“Friends of yours; Gabriel led us to them, they were at your apartment,” George said.
John was elated to see Brent and Tim removing their helmets. “Great to see you guys,” John said. “Come into the cave, everyone, warm-up, and have something to eat before we head out. Brushing off the weather, everyone followed John, Maria, and Kris into the cave.
“We’ve been riding for hours, John; the heat feels wonderful,” Isaac said. “My brothers and I want to thank you for returning George to us, and the faith John. When George came for our help, we knew right away, it was important. Gabriel explained everything we needed to know, that God’s going to shake things up, and I think it’s time. Then Gabriel told us to go by your apartment and pick up Tim and Brent.”
“Thanks for bringing them, Isaac,” John said.
“It’s my pleasure, John. When we stopped to pick them up, a fight was underway. A woman became frightened and ran away when we pulled up.”
“What happened at the apartment, Brent,” John said?
“John, I’m afraid I have bad news,” Brent said. “Kara came around soon after you left; she lied about her name John. I called Tim for help. I was scared; when he arrived, he found Emily outside your apartment. I knew her as Kara. I’ve never met Emily before. I’m sorry, John,” Brent said.
“John hugged Brent; it’s going to be OK, Brent,” John said. “Emily never had the right intentions, Brent. I’d like you to meet Maria; the love of my life.”
“Hi Maria,” Brent said.
“God is certainly smiling on you, Johnny,” Tim said.
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Approaching Maria, Tim tipped his hat. “It’s very nice to meet you, my dear. Please take good care of Johnny; he’s very special to me,” Tim said.
“He’s very special to me too Reverend, will you help me gather some food for the group before we head out, please?”
“I certainly can, my dear.”
“George and his family came by the apartment to pick us up,” Brent said. “How they got there I don’t know; the roads are solid ice. We slid down every road on the way to George’s farm. Everyone gathered there, we prepped the sleds, and then the most amazing thing happened. Gabriel visited us, and pretty soon after that the UFO showed up, Gabriel told us to follow the ship to find you. So, here we are; what’s next?”
“We’re heading back to the Minneapolis to expose the truth about the Church. Tim wrote several bulletins many years ago. One called ‘Free to be a Christian’ and a second one called ‘Thoughts on the punishment of the wicked.’ Kris turned the bulletins into a web site to get the message out. The dark side is trying to stop us, though. Mike’s and Maria’s retreat destroyed, and we’ve lost some people.”
“Where’s Mike,” Tim said.
“He’s gone, Tim; the craft took him because he was getting ready to fire at you guys. Gabriel said he was too much of a warrior, and his time had come.”
“I’m sorry, John,” Tim said.
“I’m sorry to Tim.”
“What did Gabriel tell you, John,” Brent said?
“Gabriel told us there’s a church a couple of miles from here that is under demonic attack. There are Infiltrators, disembodied spirits, and astral travelers waging war against them. The dark side has been using that Church to launch attacks on us here. We’re to clean house there on the way back to Minneapolis.”
“Let’s help those Christians, Johnny. Please excuse Maria and me for a few minutes, Johnny. We’re going for supplies,” Tim said.
Tim and Maria walked back to the cave’s storage area and gathered water and food supplies for the trip. “Why did you call me a Reverend back there, Maria,” Tim said?
“The Holy Spirit told me you were a Reverend,” Maria said.
“Interesting, I’ve been a missionary for most of my life. At heart, I’m just a believer.”
“Well, the Holy Spirit thinks you are, that’s good enough for me,” Maria said.
“Please take good care of Johnny, Maria. I’ve known him most of his life. The Holy Spirit has been grooming him for this role his entire life. He deserves a great woman like you, Maria.”
“I haven’t always been a great woman, Maria said; I’ve done some of the most terrible things you can imagine Tim. I used to work for the other side.
“So did the Apostle Paul,” Tim said. “We’re living in exciting times, Maria.
“Tim, will you marry John and me, right here and right now if John agrees?”
“It would be my honor, Maria, let me go and get Johnny, I’ll take the supplies to the group and ask Johnny to come back here for a minute.”
Tim walked back to the central area of the cave where everyone was talking. Tim handed each person a bottle of water and a protein bar.
“Where’s Maria,” John asked?
“She’s waiting for you in the back, Johnny. Go see her right away; she said it was important.”
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Tim winked at John as he walked by him, on the way to see Maria. Rounding the corner, John noticed Maria using a moist towel to wipe away the dirt from her face. “I know the timing couldn’t be worse; I’ve fallen head over heels in love with you this weekend. I don’t ever want to be without you.”
“Marry me, John; right here, right now. I don’t want to live without you. If anything happens to either of us, I’ll never forgive myself if I didn’t ask. I’ve waited my entire life for you; you’re my soul mate John.”
I love you so much, Maria. Yes, yes, I’ll marry you,” John said with a tear running down his face. “I’ve always loved you too.”
“Oh, John, come here.”
Maria threw her arms around John and pulled him close. John placed his arms around Maria. “I’ve never felt like this before,” John said. He put both of his hands on her face and pulled Maria close for a slow romantic kiss. Maria caressed John, pulling his body tight against hers.
“You’re mine forever, John,” Maria said.
“Not so fast, you two,” Tim said. “Please excuse the interruption; we have some business to attend to first. I’ve fed everyone, and we’re ready to pack up the sleds when you’re ready to go.
“Maria, did you ask,” Tim said?
“I did Tim; he said yes! As you can see, we were busy celebrating that decision,” Maria said.
“That’s fantastic, Maria,” Tim said. “John, I know your parents would be so proud of you right now if they understood what was going on; your parents as well, Maria.”
Chapter 11 – Arrival – Tim opened his Bible. John and Maria faced each other and held hands. “Most of the traditional wedding ceremonies we know come from man. You two don’t even need me for this; just choosing to spend your lives together, glorifying God along the way is enough to seal the deal.”
“John, do you take Maria for your lawful wedded wife, to live in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love, honor, comfort, and cherish her from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto her for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” John said.
Maria, do you take John for your lawful wedded husband, to live in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love, honor, comfort, and cherish him from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto him for as long as you both shall live?
“I do,” Maria said.
“By the authority vested in me by God himself, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride John.
John and Maria kissed while Tim clapped.
“Tim,” Maria said. “We need a few minutes to ourselves.” John turned red, pulling his new bride close for another kiss.
“I’ll go and help George get everything together for our trip Maria. We’ll be waiting outside the cave for you two. We’ll be ready to go when you are.”
Tim returned to the main cave area. “George, step outside with me for a moment if you would, sir.” Tim and George grabbed their coats and walked out of the cave together into the cold. The ship hovered silently above them.
“What’s going on, Tim,” George asked.
“I just married John and Maria; they’re going to need a few minutes in private before we head out.
“That’s fantastic, Tim; let’s get everyone suited up, and all of the gear stowed and ready to go.
George and Tim walked back into the cave. Its go, time boys and girls. Let’s get the sleds packed and ready for the trip. “What about John and Maria,” Brent said?
“Come on, Brent, and I’ll fill you in,” Tim said.
John and Maria made love passionately. They both knew they might never see each other again. For a brief time, only they existed. And their love was enough to last a lifetime.
